The First Official Palm Pre Apps

Now that Palm’s beautiful new smartphone has landed in the “palms” of eager consumers worldwide, everyone is eager for the third party apps to start coming. Palm has announced that its version of the iTunes App Store for applications that can make your phone do “just about anything” will be called the Palm App Catalog. More details on what’s going on with the catalog will be coming soon, but for those of you who have the Palm Pre already, you can download any of the following apps directly from the App Catalog over the air from your phone:

Pandora - create your own radio station based on music you like, and only music you like

Fandango - browse movie theater listings, and even use the Pre’s GPS to find the closest theater to you

Connect4 - everyone’s favorite vertical checkers game!

Flixster - movie reviews, trailers, showtimes, and more

AP News - get breaking news alerts, browse news and photos, and more

AccuWeather - detailed weather conditions and forecasts right to your phone

LinkedIn - access the power of your professional network while you’re on the go

ExpressStocks - get stock prices and updates right to your handset

Mobile by CitySearch - find local business listings, reviews, and more

Where - local information, news, events and more

FlightView - add flights to your calendar, get instant notifications, reminders, etc

LikeMeMobile - find the perfect place to eat, stay, or meet people

And of course, the YouTube app. The video here explains it all!

Stay tuned for more. We hope to have all the apps for download here soon!

  4. Sanja says:

I think that the Pre needs more games. Also, it would be nice to have an organizer for instance, something that you can add a grocery list to, or store assignments. Also, the Iphone has the “Loop” app and I would like to have something like that.

  5. Justin says:

Good Pre games is really the only way to show off the Pre and make others buy it.

  13. MIke says:

I love the Pre, but if this is Sprints “top of the line” phone, someone needs to get the led out of their butt and get with the program. Need APPS period. Need to be able to forward text messages. Can’t change the text ringers. I mean.. COME ONE GUYS, my instinct would do that! Whaz up with this ish?

  14. Kevin says:

  17. Bob says:

    Hi,
I was excited about the phone as I thought my 3 year old Treo 700p was getting old and thought I should upgrade. I’m with a lot of the others. Without the applications, the phone is just another (really expensive) phone. My treo has voice memos, video recording with sound, camera zoom, file organization, SD memory card expansio, and a battery the lasts a whole lot longer than the one the@pre comes with. I think the phone has real potential, but I feel like I paid for a Ferrari and got a Chevy.
Let’s get the phone that we all thought we we purchasing. Please?!
    Thank you.

  18. dj says:

Should have bought an iphone, stop whining…

  19. dj says:

If all of you wanted a cool phone with thousands of apps why the heck did you buy a Pre? Hello… it took the iphone a year before they had “lots of apps”.

  20. ruby says:

okay so I like the palm pre I mean I really like it..but ppl keep thrownin the iphone in my face..its makin me really want to get one. Where is the freaken apps. Ya killin me softly. I keep puttin in my mind the iphone needed how many generations to get it right?? So mayb the pre is taken its time so we can have everything the I phone has plus more! KEEP HOPE ALIVE PRE APPS SOON PLZ!

  21. The Pre is yet another phone with a TON of potential however the few good apps for it are over priced. I’m going for the iPhone as soon as my contract is up! Sorry palm. Too little way to late.

  22. David Knupp says:

I would get the IPhone if the AT&T network didn’t suck monkey “parts”.
